The Spray Tan Formula Is The Next Best Alternative To Beach Tanning

By Haywood Hunter

Tanning beds have been the solution for several decades for those seeking that beautiful bronzed skin look. Research however, has shown that this is not the healthiest approach to tanning one's skin. Tanning beds will still emit dangerous ultra violet rays that can cause fatal melanomas. A better choice is the spray tan technique.

The recommended alternative to acquire a beautiful, even tan is to visit a salon that offers a spray tan system. This is achieved inside a tanning booth where a series of spray tan nozzles emit the tanning formula onto the front of the body first. You need to stand in a certain spot the right distance from the tanning source for about fifteen second, then turn around and allow your back to be sprayed as well. The arms need to be held up so that the spray will also reach the sides of the body.

The skin should first be exfoliated at home. The less there is of any dry skin on the body the better the stain will stick and look natural. A bit of time invested in scrubbing the face, and especially the knees and elbows will ensure that even application of the tanning spray.

In order to protect the hair, a shower cap should be worn, leaving the ears out so that they too will get tanned. A special gel that creates a coating to repeal the spray should be applied to the palms and soles, as well as between the fingers and the fingernails. The amount of pigment on the bottom of our feet is so nominal that tanning typically doesn't take place here.

When in the tanning booth it is also advisable to wear protection for the eyes so glasses or goggles are advised. Some people also like to insert a nose plug so that they don't breathe in the spray tan mist. Others choose to simply hold their breath for the few seconds the spray is turned on during the tanning process.

The nozzles will discharge a fine mist of the spray tan formula. This process will only last about 15 seconds. You must keep your arms raised to ensure that the sides of the body will also get covered. When the spray tan is turned off, you then turn around and repeat the procedure remembering to place the hands in front of you with the palms facing your chest.

The spraying procedure again will stop after fifteen seconds. You can step out of the booth, remove the goggles and nose plug, and wipe off any residual spray tan formula with a towel. Loose clothing is recommended to ensure that the spray tan is not rubbed off while it is curing for another seven hours.

A safer alternative to the tanning beds is the spray tan in a booth option. The spray tan does not have the harmful ultra violet rays that tanning lights have and the process is less expensive. You can treat yourself to that sun kissed look more than once a month without worrying about any negative effects on your body.
