For Effective Hair Loss Treatment PA Residents Should See A Specialist

By Henry Wagner

Alopecia, the fancy term describing the process of losing hair, is afflicting millions of people from every country and culture. Men, especially, suffer from the condition and often from a very early age. The majority of people will accept this as a fact of life, something that happens sooner or later. Many others, however, will go to great lengths to reverse or prevent the process. For the very best hair loss treatment PA residents should rather get advice from a professional.

People start to go bald for a myriad of reason. Men, especially, often suffer losses simply because they are genetically programmed to do so. Others neglect their scalps and many people experience losses when undergoing certain medical treatment or when using certain types of medication. Too much sun can also be a cause. In some cases new growth will occur spontaneously but is the majority of cases this will not happen.

One of the best known and most effective ways of treating male pattern baldness is through the use of Finasteride. It is taken in capsule form, once a day. More than a third of men using it regain at least some growth after using the capsules for a year and another third shown much more significant regrowth. In more than ninety nine percent of cases it prevents losses altogether.

Both men and women have experienced success with Minoxidil, an ointment that is massaged into the scalp once a week. Fifty to eighty percent of users say they experienced much less loss than before and about twenty percent of users report new growth. Using Minoxidil for long periods can, however, result in dermatitis. It should therefore be used with care and for short periods only.

Some people opt for surgery. In this case, small quantities of hair is taken from the side of the head and transplanted to the bald areas. The transplanted growths will not fall out again and they needed to be treated just as the rest of the head is. The transplants will continue to grow. The drawback is that transplants are extremely expensive and it may take between eight and twelve months before the results can be appreciated.

Many people swear by the effectiveness of certain home remedies and some research have been done in this area. Onion juice, for example, increase the circulation of the blood to the follicles, promoting growth. Coconut oil, massaged into the scalp, is also said to ensure a healthy scalp. Aloe Vera has been proven to correct the Ph balance of the scalp, which also promote growth and help prevent losses.

In some cases hair losses simply cannot be prevented but the majority of people can avoid losses. It is important to keep the scalp clean, washing with a mild shampoo at least every second day. Drastic styling, very hot straighteners and prolonged use of dryers can also cause damage and subsequent losses. Too little protein, fatty acids and eggs, nuts and seeds can also accelerate losses.

For most people their hair is a source of pride and they go to great lengths to keep it clean, styled and healthy. Unfortunately losses are part of life, but there is much that can be done to prevent losses and to promote new growth. It is always, best, however, to seek expert advice before starting to use preparations that may end up doing more damage than good.
