Brief Information On Sun Tanning Safely

By Haywood Hunter

There are many men and women who enjoy a healthy glow that sun tanning gives their skin. Crowds of people will travel during the winter to tropical locations in order to spend time on the beaches and work on their tans. To help get the best from sun tanning, some brief tips are listed below.

One of the most important things to remember about sun tanning is to not get a sun burn. It is counter productive to your goals, it hurts, and it can lead to serious complications later. Complications include skin cancer and premature aging of the skin. Getting a burn will undo the effect you are trying to get from sun tanning.

One way to prevent getting burns is to spread your sun tanning through out several days. Try to only be in the sun for short periods of time between the hours of 10 a. M. And 3 p. M. If you do want to stay out longer do it only after you have developed a tan or wear protective clothing. During the winter you can try sun tanning spa's to develop or maintain your tan.

Before applying any sun tanning products to your skin, exfoliate first with a loofah. This can help your skin hold the tan longer by getting rid of all the dead skin cells first. Also use moisturizer after being in the sun to keep your skin and tan looking supple and beautiful.

It is highly recommended to always use a sun tanning lotion with an SPF of at least fifteen. Apply it thirty minutes before going outside to allow it to absorb into the skin. Be sure to reapply after being in the water or after activities that cause you to sweat.

When outside sun tanning, do not forget about your lips, eyelids, and the bottom of your feet. You may not want to tan them but you do need to cover them in order to protect them from getting sunburn. Also drink lots of water to stay hydrated.
